Mt. Dora is celebrating their 2nd annual Blueberry Festival April 23-24 at Elizabeth Evans Park, Mt. Dora FL On The Waterfront from 9am-5pm! This is a free event for everyone, to come and enjoy Florida grown Blueberries, a blueberry pancake breakfast, blueberry wine & craft beers, blueberry desserts, 100 crafters, plants and music. Did you know that Florida is now producing 17 million pounds of blueberries per year, with goals of surpassing, one day Georgia’s 100 million pounds per year. With debilitating frosts during our winter months in recent years the citrus industry in Florida has been hit hard. Blueberry fields with varieties developed specifically for the Florida climate are no popping up everywhere replacing the dead citrus fields. Blueberry season doesn’t last very long, when the temperatures consistently stay above the 90 degree mark the season is pretty much over, so don’t wait and come to Mt. Dora April 23-24 to enjoy everything Blueberry! http://www.festivalsofflorida.com/
